Also, let’s say these pet eating stories are true. Wouldn’t that mean one of two options, one they are eating pets out of starvation/need, or it’s some kind of cultural miscommunication. Either way it’s a failure on our end to provide or educate.

I think it was from a Facebook post of some conspiracy theorist, and may have been based on a lady in Canton Ohio that was having an episode from drug addiction and for some reason ate her cat. But conspiracy theriost turned it into immigrants because that’s what you do when also having a break from reality.
Vance, Hannity, Gym Jordan, Ted Cruz, Elon Musk, Marge Green, and probably many more Republicans have amplifying this message for a week or two already. I think that’s people to qualify as “they”.
