People with your attitude are a direct cause for segregated neighborhoods, kids as contract killers and literally explosive gang violence.

It must be possible to have a discussion regarding what is reasonable without immediately jumping to “any criticism of immigration policy is racism!”

With “my attitude”? Do elaborate. What is this attitude of mine that is DIRECTLY causing children to be contract killers? I doubt that you can.

        Help yourself.

People like you, immediately shutting down any discussion regarding migration as “racism”, “far-right” or “fascism” caused politicians here in Sweden to not have a serious debate on the topic until the situation had spiraled way out of control and caused irreversible harm. The consequences are clearly visible today, including the above mentioned issues and many more. The people that were supposed to be helped have instead become the primary victims of this calamity.

It’s morbidly satisfying in a slow-mo train crash sort of way and simultaneously awful to have predicted what was going to happen, as well as the consequences of those events only to see it unfold eerily close to what you expected. It’s the kind of situation where you’d prefer to have been wrong, but unfortunately weren’t.

For myself, I hope to have finished my education and gotten reasonably far away before the ongoing consequences destroy what remains of our beloved Swedish welfare system. Even so, we need to do our best to help out the people of Ukraine.

Here’s the thing. The amount of assumptions you make show you aren’t a person who considers the things they think / say. Which means you’re extremely vulnerable to racist rhetoric, and don’t even know it.

The words you’re using. “People like you.” “Immediately” “ANY”. No, I don’t “immediately” call anything racist. You’re just a very obvious one.

“Slow-mo train crash sort of way”.

Yeah, I know lots of people who have been chanting that since, well, forever. Pretty much one step up from the people standing on soap boxes yelling “the end of days is coming.” It never does.

“I’m using flimsy rationale for my racism so I can’t be racist.”

Honestly, if I had 1€ every time I hear that…

For myself, I hope to have finished my education and gotten reasonably far away

Far away from…? Your country? Do you understand that we live in a global society? There’s a reason those refugees are seeking refuge.

I too hope to get far away from the Nordics, but not because of some bullshit doomsday scenarios I’m imagining, but because of people like you — people who just refuse to understand there’s a wider world than your little country, that there might be a reason to help people even when it costs you. I’m sure you understand that if your neighbor’s house is on fire, it’s in your interest to help him put it out.

            every time I hear that…

Well, you didn’t even read any of those strawman sentences, and given that there isn’t anybody but us still here it really is a waste of effort to continue to speculate about what you think that I think.

I did not claim you do this:

No, I don’t “immediately” call anything racist.

What I did write was this:

People like you, immediately shutting down any discussion…

…and as of yet you seem to fall within that category. Feel free to prove me wrong instead of continuing a rather pointless meta-discussion about what we think that people like the other party think and do…

            Far away from…?

Reasonably far away, at least from where I am now.

Preferrably somewhere without explosions and gang shootings every other day, somewhere a kid might be able to have a calm childhood and youth - like I had less than two decades ago. Without needing to worry about being shot, assaulted or raped. There’s plenty of other more esoteric things obviously.

These aren’t some made up stories or “doomsday scenarios” mind you, these are things that occur on a regular basis near where I live - things that me, my colleagues, friends and family experience first-hand.

Maybe just up north in Sweden, or moving to Finland, Ireland, Norway, S. Korea or Japan. I’ve considered New Zealand & Australia too, but they’re a bit hot for my taste.
