This is so embarrassing. I’ve never been more disappointed to be from BC than to see the BC Conservatives neck-and-neck with the best government* we’ve had in a lifetime.
(*yes they suck in various ways, and we all know how much worse the Cons would be and the BCLibs were.)
People are fucking stupid. They vote emotions, not policy.
Prices went up, it must be my provincial government doing that, despite it happening in every developed country in the world simultaneously. Replacing them with anyone else will improve it.
They’re so fucking stupid - none of these yahoos were coming out and voting for BCUP/BCLibs because “turdeau” now that they’ve rebranded to conservatives they’re all in.
People need to be reminded that BC has the highest amount of housing being built in the country and that the percentage of unionization is increasing here.
British Columbia needs to remain a uniquely progressive province. It looks like more people will need to volunteer to prevent being in the same terrible situation as the 7 other provinces are in. As the far right are really galvanizing on people’s frustrations.
I’m legitimately afraid. We’re on track to vote in a federal Con government that wouldn’t even admit climate change exists. Now after an at least partial recovery from the last time we had decades of Con governing in BC–openly corrupt members and all–we’re going to vote for their even more right-wing cousins?
It’s just so goddamn embarrassing.
I hope all the volunteering does help but I just feel like maybe we deserve this. They’ll make everything worse faster and we can all lose our houses to flooding and fire, and our parents and grandparents to heatstroke. Sell off our tree cover to increase flooding and make the wild fires even worse. Prove to the world that we would rather die on a larger pile of gold when our AC fails than work to fix anything for our kids or their kids.
