Actually I don’t. I haven’t looked it up and I also wasn’t even aware that they used that as a defense until you mentioned it. So are you saying the courts DID accept that defense and considered Fox News entertainment org, or did they accept that it was “entertainment news”?
And even so, an entertainment org can still put out “news.” You’re not going to win this argument, comrade. They are a news org. Regardless of if you think it’s fake news, or entertainment news or whatever.
Because if it were illegal to call them “news” the wouldn’t be able to call themselves “Fox News.” Plus the Democrat Party would definitely try to get a court order for them to change their name if that were the case.
Also, just so you know, I’m not voting Republican anyway. :)
Lol, okay. A lot of people watch them and listen to what they say therefore they’re news. That’s the logic on politics unfiltered. Sure seems like there’s a lot of filters around here.
So even though Wikipedia decided they are news, other news orgs consider them news, and practically half of the country considers them news, YOU are the one who’s right when you say they’re not news!?
Not me, they’re the ones that say they’re not news. So here’s the question you have to ask yourself if half the people listen to their opinions and their opinion is they’re not news does that mean half the country thinks they’re not news?
So if Fox News isn’t really a news organization, where’s the lawsuit to shut them down for falsely advertising themselves?
The fact is, the Democrats—and every other critic—know they can’t legally do that, because even tabloids and entertainment shows have the right to report on real events.
Court statements like “no rational person would reasonably believe…” are legal jargon used to dodge liability in lawsuits—it doesn’t suddenly strip them of being a news organization.
If the content’s purely entertainment, then let’s see someone challenge their status. Until that happens, it’s all noise without substance.
They’re not a real news organization, as they have argued in courts of law they are entertainment organization.
Did the courts accept that defense, or did they hold them accountable as a news org?
You know they accepted the defense

Sure “comrade” totally believe you’re not voting Republican.
Thank you! I’m glad you understand.
I’m voting for Rachele Fruit, of the Socialst Workers Party. https://lemmy.world/c/swp
Well then update the wikipedia article, comrade.
Fox News has plenty of people watching them and voting based on the info they get, so you are gonna have a big fight on your hands. Good luck!

Yet, they still call themselves “Fox News” so they are not saying they are not news.
And to your question, I totally think that half the country thinks they are not news! And almost all of Lemmy agrees! lmao
