minus-square@WhiskyTangoFoxtrotlink6•3 months agoLinux 2.6 released in December 2003. Gnome 2.6 released in March of 2004. At that point Linux was truly ready for the desktop and we’ve just spent the last twenty years waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

I too was there for the release of the 2.6 kernel
