For me, it meant, I don’t need anybody else, I can do everything on my own and please myself. Because once I start mingking with others, I’m bound to get hurt. Hence, I can buy myself flowers.
Yes, it’s great being self-reliant, however I feel it is limited as we are humans and can not make it through this world on our own as each of us brings some needed value to our society.
I’m thinking about our ancestors living in tribes and that we evolved and still exist because of our ancestors highlights on togetherness, and community, which is why our species survived. Yes, I admit that with tech advancement, it may be masked that we can make it out on our own. More importantly, we are social creatures and our well-being is deeply factored by belonging, relating and connecting with others. If the aforementioned negates, our well-being will pay the price.
