one of the biggest reason i love great co-op games (eg helldivers) is because they also make for some of the most intense solo experiences. very few singleplayer games can accurately replicate the triumph of solo’ing something designed for 4 players.
I think they mean those intense moments when you are the sole survivor and no revives left on the team. There are few better feelings than succeeding in those scenarios.
No need for interaction and cooperation if you can solo everything. Some games work without that but shooters really dont.
