If I am required to do this, I am purging my Discord account immediately. I am not giving them face scans.

huh…sounds like an invasion of privacy.
good thing I never used discord because of the toxicity and pedophiles.
nothing gained, nothing lost.
Eh, we used it as an office chat until my boss set up Slack, and then kept using it when we played games after work. It was okay.
I never joined any public channels though, only the handful of ones with various gaming friends. They have since moved on with life, so I uninstalled Discord.
Discord has always been an invasion of privacy. They require a phone number for ages
That is a server specific setting. I have never had to give a phone number unless the server required that level of authorization.
No, its site wide. I got banned before I joined a community.
Try signing up for a new account using Tor Browser
It is not. I just checked and my account doesn’t have a phone number associated.
You didn’t read what I wrote. They dont ask for a phone number from accounts that they can fingerprint
Sounds reasonable. If you look sketchy, like a bot, they’ll want some other way to prevent abuse.
Its not sketchy to use privacy tools. Domestic abuse survivors, refugees, etc. need theseprotections
If you do something sketchy, then action can be taken. We have laws that prevent profiling people based on how they look for a reason
Yes, physical appearance, because of racism, sexism, or other discrimination. Not digital appearance.
If you walk into a business dressed all in black with sunglasses, a mask, and a hat, that business might refuse to serve you until you look less like you’re going to commit a crime.
