Kinda normal for someone who actively promotes the invasion of an allies’ territorial land with the military (like an imperialist pig) to dislike “tankies”.
I was wondering why a obviously sarcastic comment got so many downvotes. But I kind of realize every now and then that people really can’t distinguish between a sarcastic one and a genuine one without the “/s” tag, even if I think it’s so on the nose that I think it can’t be mistaken.
But yes, you can pick and choose to an extreme so that you end up saying that Fascism and Authoritarianism totally seperate in a Venn Diagram of evil, but you’d lie to yourself.
Their sacrifice in WW2, which was from a certain point on deliberate and ideology based(as in that they would not accept any rule of nazi ideology), has served even you. Unless you want a world where the nazis didnt lose, you too are in the debt of these tankies.

Only if you want your feed to be an echo chamber. In my opinion the best thing about the fediverse is that you can choose the rules and values you want to adhere to through your instance choice, without cutting off interaction with others unless you defederate their instances.
The frequent calls to blanket dismiss anyone on those instances are an unfortunate overreaction in my opinion.
Agreed. There are some tone deaf people from those instances who think their perspectives are the only true ones, but that’s true of any sufficiently large and unified group.

I think the problem is that there are people who genuinely react like this unironically so it’s safer to just take it at face value.
While Im not a tankie, they do have some historical appeal. You know like beating the Nazis, some small things here and there.
