Summary

Stephen Miller’s legal group, America First Legal Foundation, sent letters warning officials in sanctuary jurisdictions of potential “serious consequences,” including civil racketeering charges and prison time, for defying federal immigration laws.

The letters target 249 officials in areas restricting cooperation with ICE, such as San Diego County.

While courts have previously rejected similar anti-sanctuary efforts, the move signals aggressive immigration enforcement plans under Trump’s incoming administration.

Critics argue the threats highlight a broader strategy to intimidate and enforce mass deportation policies.

keep telling yourself that so you can be likewise flabbergasted the next time you lose; but have hope: the republicans are likely to fuck it up enough to galvanize your fellow democrats to vote in 2026 or 2028 so you’ll have at least one more win before we fully descend into fascism (assuming that we’re still allowed to vote and that the next democrat candidate isn’t also a genocide-enabling, oligarchical boot licker, unmasked fascist themself)
