they sidelined working-class concerns, lost crucial voters,

Yep that right there is probably why they lost, instead of having a solid alternative to Trump, they moved right to reel in some Trump voters, and people didn’t see an alternative worth voting for.
This is the problem with 2 party systems. There simply wasn’t an option on the left for people who wanted to change the status quo.

I really feel for Americans that have maintained their humanity, because that is not something that has any value for the narcissistic administration USA has now, and it’s just about completely gone from the entire Republican party.

Nazi salutes at inauguration! Really? WTF has USA become?

The USA didn’t become something. It’s always been this way. It’s just that the mask is off now.

Yes and no, this was always present as it is mostly everywhere, but generally the shifts have been between progress and standstill on humanitarian and democratic issues. With Trump this is a decidedly reversal to the worse in ALL areas, with NO actual “conservative” values. Just pandering to the 1% and the lowest denominator.
Republicans have become decidedly evil, and the American population electing him, has created much bigger potential for evil evil in USA.
