That would still make them cleaner than a diesel ICE truck. Since the generator can continuously run at a constant rpm where the engine burns the fuel efficiently. So that would also generate the least particulate matter since the burn would be cleaner.
There is a Canadian company called Edison who will retrofit a truck into a hybrid. They add two electric axle engines and convert the IC engine into a generator to charge the batteries.
There are videos that walk through how to “de-pussify” (or some other misogynistic term) cyber trucks to make them run on diesel. I don’t know enough about cars or cyber trucks to know how valid they are.
Simply buy a cybertruck and put a generator in the back that’s constantly running to charge it.
Are you suggesting they drive… a hybrid?!
As long as you keep the generator running when you’re driving it’s just an externally located internal combustion engine.
So an external combustion engine.
Also a fire hazard.
No the combustion occurs internally in the externally located engine.
My head hurts
They could use a stirling engine as a generator, that’s what an external combustion engine looks like.

With all the ICE cars in use, I would love to see hybrid retrofitting go mainstream

That’s hilarious. I’m guessing it would end up about as structurally sound as this
