For the longest time, Reddit allowed some of the most toxic, explicitly hateful, communities out there. It continued to grow very quickly under those circumstances. Furthermore, the more moderate communities continued to exist. It wasn’t until later, when they were trying to monetize, that Reddit started cracking down on the allowed content.

As much as I disagreed with those communities, I think Reddit was a better place when the admin had a looser hand on which communities could it could not exist

  • Businesses seeing a drop in revenue as a result of a random patchwork organized online effort for a temporary boycott won’t have any effect?

No it won’t. This just means people buy the stuff the another day and is absolutely meaningless to their bottom line

    Absolutely.

I lived a lot like this during the 2008 recession. I was always looking for work, but there was none to be had. So we spent all day watching arthouse DVDs from the library, having sex, cooking, making art, and talking philosophy in our 250 square foot apartment. At times, it was truly beautiful.

However, there came a time after a year or so where the money really ran out and we got evicted. The relationship imploded and it all went to shit.

My takeaway is that, for long term happiness, stability is important too.

The natural lifecycle of the Jedi Master is to retire on some remote planet to become a depressed asshole hermit, just as Yoda did before.

To me, The Last Jedi rejects the constant stream of fan service in most new Star Wars films to return to the roots of the series. IMO, it’s by far the best of the sequel movies.

  • My issues with BO are more about their whole “business” model being noncompetitive, either through lawsuits

Say what you want about this, but most major government procurement contracts involve some sort of legal battles. Kinda the name of the game. I was working the contract on the NASA side when it happened and the space enthusiasts blew it way out of proportion.

or the megabillionaire owner paying for everything and underbidding and winning contracts that should go to real companies, like Rocket Lab, Stoke, Astrobotic, etc.

You mean, like, how SpaceX underbid for HLS?

In any case, this is just plain wrong. Blue generates bids that they expect to turn a profit, they just have far better facilities and economies of scale than everyone else besides SpaceX.

  • Still hilarious to have “theelonmusketeers” posting memes making fun of Blue right after SpaceX has a high profile RUD

Honestly, spaceX fans taking issue with Blue is a bit silly in general. There’s plenty of market demand to go around and more suppliers could only help the future of human space flight

A well made pour over will be every bit as “good” as a well made espresso. It’s also way less demanding in terms of equipment and technique.

Making an espresso on par with the best coffee shops requires a great deal of skill/experience and thousands of dollars in equipment. If you don’t have the skill or equipment, straight espresso is usually pretty disgusting.

You can make a phenomenal pour over with a YouTube video and $150 in gear.

However, they’re different styles of drinks. A pour over is much less concentrated and doesn’t have the crema/body of espresso.

If you think it’s wrong to keep a cat inside then you shouldn’t have a cat. They’re an invasive species in most of the world and it’s unethical to put them outside regardless of what justifications you come up with

Yeah I’ve been seeing this Ron and Harry meme all over the place. I’m not a potter fan, I don’t think the books are anything super special, but still

It’s very clearly shown that Harry would be willing to help them out financially but they don’t want Harry’s money in the slightest
