No significant public transit system to get people in and out
Not right this moment but it will happen. In a year and a half people will be able to park as far out as the Plaza and streetcar in a few blocks from the new stadium. Several times in the past few years the city has managed to move upwards of a million people into the city for events.
Downtown stadiums are just a better option overall, both economically and in sports culture. Plus it would be nice to break the parking monopoly our current owners have.
The downside is the cost, which is why I’ll personally vote against it when it comes up for a vote. The billionaire owners should foot the entire bill.
Downtown doesn’t work for football. 5-10x the attendance of baseball. No significant public transit system to get people in and out.
The obvious choices are to renovate, build new on the Kaufman site once the royals are out or build a new off-site location probably by the speedway
