The thing that puts me off a cover is that I hear you have to really keep the car clean to avoid damage? I just don’t have the time right now to keep washing it.

That depends on what kind of car it is…

If it’s a daily driver and you just want it so your car isn’t an oven at the end of a day, just go for it.

Where they’re bad is if you put a right fitting one on a nice car for long term storage. The cover moving could press small debris into the paint and accumulate a lot of small scratches.

But that’s for something like a classic/expensive car long term storage. For that, yeah you want it to be clean before you cover it.

If you’re already driving to and from work everyday, it’s not going to be anything comparable to damage from normal wear and tear.

      Quick edit:

If it’s just that the car gets hot, what you do is open a window on the passenger side, preferably the back, and then open and close the driver door like 20 times as fast as possible. Doesn’t have to fully close, doesn’t have to fully open.

But it will circulate all the air inside very quickly in very little time. At the expense of looking crazy till enough people catch on and it becomes normal.

Appreciate your advice, thanks. It’s the daily driver so I’m probably overthinking it!
