Someone old enough to have a job when that movie came out would be out of the target demo anyway. I have kids, use the internet, hang out with other parents and still will come across new (to us) popular movies for kids. A teenager or adult before widespread internet adoption not knowing about a Disney movie is not odd to me.

We are talking about when the movie came out. So the McDonalds employee had no chance to grow up with that movie. If they weren’t exactly a Disney fanatic and didn’t have kids, it’s totally imaginable that they don’t know (or don’t care about) the names of the characters.

As a comparison (in case you haven’t seen the movie), name the main characters of the movie “Elio”. It’s the newest Disney movie and came out less than two months ago. It would be very possible to see characters of that movie in McDonalds somewhere right now. I haven’t seen the movie, I am not invested in all the newest Disney movies, I have no idea what they are called.
