I strongly disagree with the idea or acceptance of “reverse sexism”
Sexism is sexism. Anyone who feels hurt by that idea needs to asks themselves why equality hurts them. And I’m saying this without minimizing the abhorrent sexism that is currently common against women.
As a feminist I hope for a world that is equal for all sexes and genders.
As a male who does not identify as a man (nb), I have plenty of struggles with society, and even though I don’t identify as a man, most people still view me as a man. It hurts every time a sexist remark is thrown around, and ironically because most of the people I interact with are pretty accepting and have modern views about social issues, I almost never hear sexist remarks towards women from them (which I appreciate greatly) but occasionally there will be a sexist remark towards men (half jokingly) and every time I raised my discomfort I was met with confusion. As if my discomfort and hurt is crazy because “men really are like that” or “it was just a joke” and yeah, I even got the classic “you are over reacting”
So for those of you who read this and still feel off about my view, I understand your frustration, sexism against women is still so common and damaging to you personally as well as society as a whole. But sexism is never going to be the solution to sexism, even if one side is massively more damaging than the other.
