I’ll add that there are jumper/tire inflator/USB charger combos for auto use. A jumper stater it’s one of those things you’ll never use, except on rare occasions when they absolutely save the day. The tire inflator is less useful in the car, but handy on bikes. But the USB charger option gets a ton of use.
It’s handy to have all three in one, and a car is a good place to haul one around.
Oh, they often have powerful flood LED lights on them, too. If you’re not a habitual flashlight carrier, that can be really nice to have when you most need it. Ever change a flat in the dark?
Get a 12V inverter and a normal 120V AC fast charging adapter. It seems silly to turn DC into AC then back into DC, but it’s totally worth it when you need a lot of charge fast.
There are 12V inverters that plug into cigarette lighter ports. Some use a wire, and some just stick out of the port.
You can also get “fast” charging USB ports that stick in your cigarette lighter, but they are never as good as a proper charging adapter. Maybe nowadays you can find a real fast charging one now that USB-C fast charging standards are a thing. I haven’t shopped for one in a long time.
Going from 12V DC to 120 AC and back to the 5-20V DC that USB-C provides is very inefficient (both in energy, cost, and space). Just get a USB cigarette plug adapter that can do fast charging. Right now I see a 60W 2 port USB-C one on Amazon for $10.
The 120V inverter only really makes sense if you’ve got other stuff to charge like a laptop or portable speaker that’s not USB.
If you have a car: a fast charger for your phone.
It’s amazing to me how many use a built-in USB that barely charges the thing.
