The best part of sponsorblock is that the advertiser doesn’t see you skipping the ad in any way. You don’t have to sit through the segment to pump up the creator’s numbers.
Can the creator choose to go with the intrusive cut away ads I hate instead of like a manscaped sponsorship? Like, do they have that ability and would that be something they’d do?
I also have regular adblockers so it’s possible some have both I suppose and I just don’t know because I block 'em.
They get paid better for in-video sponsors, because they’re cutting a deal directly with manscaped or whatever other scam product. The embedded cutaways give Google a cut and are based on number of views, the sponsor usually pays the youtuber a flat fee to shill in x videos based on that youtuber’s average viewership. Sponsorblock is a real “everyone wins” situation - you watch your video with no ads, the youtuber gets paid by the advertiser, the advertiser still gets their money’s worth because sponsorblock is a tiny slice of the audience.

Iirc the content creator can see when people fastforward and stop watching and stuff.
Though now that I say that, I’m on newpipe, so maybe not mine lol…
The advertiser can’t see that, though. The creator doesn’t need to care.
