The city did plant trees in my neighborhood like 10 years ago. They selected Chinese Elm trees, which are terrible because on a gusty day, or rain, their branches snap and crush cars. Chinese Elms really need trimming every 1-2 years to prevent the branches that crush cars, but Rec & Park prefers to trim trees every 4-ish years. Chinese Elms are idyllic because they grow quickly and create that tree lined street charm, but I’ve heard a lot of neighbors complain about the choice of tree.
