Well, the people actually pulling the triggers on the crowds aren’t going to be held accountable. Regular police always do the lion’s share of the grunt work of oppressive regimes. Most of the work of the Holocaust was carried out by ordinary German police officers simply enforcing the law as ordered. They were not held accountable after the war.

Now, on the plus side, the people who actually did order the shooting of the protesters have mostly been held accountable. Well, more like their bodies are no longer being held together in one piece. But the old senior leadership is mostly paste at this point. The guys replacing them aren’t going to be any better. But in terms of cosmic scales of moral justice, I suppose that counts as a win. Not worth the immense cost of innocent lives. But the old Supreme Leader had a build fall on his head.
