Kyle Mantyla reports at Right Wing Watch: On Saturday, former Trump administration official and radical Christian nationalist William Wolfe delivered a speech at Bethel Church in Petersburg, West Virginia, entitled “Five Popular Lies About Faith & Politics.” Wolfe, who now runs the Center For Baptist Leadership and has become an increasingly fanatical anti-immigrant activist, openly …
Which of the following teachings of Jesus do you actually approve of?
selling preteen daughters as sex slaves?
chopping off bits of infant’s genitals?
genocide being cool?
the sole exception to genocide being cool is for the taking of waste brides (aka, child sex slaves.)?
gender inequality (women were barely better off than slaves)?
slavery?
stoning daughters because they got laid before getting married. Nevermind that the “test” had a fake positive rate of ~60% (meaning most young girls were stoned despite being innocent)?
stoning unruly children?
stoning men who get pegged or otherwise receive anal (including gay men.)?
the racial supremacy of Jews?
And those are just off the top of my head.
Remember: Jesus was an iron age man teaching Bronze Age morality as a sort of fundamentalist who believed that the Roman occupation of Israel/Jerusalem was because god was punishing them for leaving the written law of Moses (as well as the commands delivered by the prophets.)
Also remember that the messiah was literally supposed to lead all of Israel into a golden age of world domination in which everyone would be brought- violently- to the worship of their god; and subsequently serve them (as slaves).
I’m sorry that you read a few verses severely out of cultural context and think Jesus was a swell dude, but he was absolutely not a good person by our standards. He was your typical Iron Age man, complete with all the awful morals you’d expect of any other man in that time and place- and that’s before you get into whether or not he was a charlatan literally scamming money and other goods from his “neighbors”.
I’m curious.

His teachings should be left in the past.
