Went to a restaurant in LA today and when I got the check I noticed that it was a bit higher than it should be. Then I noticed this 18% service charge. So… We, as customers, need to help pay for their servers instead of the owners paying their servers a living wage. And on top of that they have suggested tip. I called bs on this. I will bet you that the servers do not see a dime of this 18% service charge. [deleted a word so it wasn’t a grammatical horror to read]

Well, don’t be crying crocodile tears when you’re up shit’s creek in finances. Happens all of the time, people overspending and overshooting their budgets.

I don’t think this is “overshooting their budget” as much as it is really terrible, predatory billing practices that have become increasingly widespread.

Other countries have the final price including tax on their menus. The US? We’re still adding inventive ways to screw you over with fine print and legalese now on fucking restaurant menus.

People are getting screwed in this country, and it’s not because they had the audacity to go out for chicken wings once.

These billing practices should be illegal.

You shouldn’t have to have taken calc 4 in order to calculate your tab.
