Artemis 3 is going ahead with no landing either. Orbital test only.

Technically it’ll still be the 3rd date, because artemis IV will be the 4th mission to the moon.

Artemis III is more like practicing putting on protection at home/testing different sizes before commiting to the actual date…

Third is testing the landing orbit, and some docking tests while in earth orbit. IIRC 4th is the one attempting the landing.

To be clear to everyone here: The primary reason why Artemis 3 is not landing is because the billionaire-run Human Landing System contractors are not performing to schedule. The landers are just not ready.

In this test, Artemis 3 will dock with a starship in Earth orbit, but the starship will not even have a cabin interior fitted.

Now and I am not defending space billionaire, but realistically Artemis was moving way too fast regardless of whether the lander was ready or not. There is a reason it took 10 Apolo flights before we landed on the moon, a lot of hardware need testing and a lot of procedure need figuring out. Landing on the 3rd mission would have been dangerous and reckless.
