i know that in universe its some worm or something, but the actors often eat bowls of wriggling little slimey things, what is it they are actually eating i cant imagine its real worms, if its not alive how do they get it to wiggle?

They put some animatronics at the bottom of the bowl sometimes to move the worms around to make them look alive iirc.
