In c/unpopularopinion, people just upvote the opinions the like, making them popular. There are barely any unpopular opinions there.

I think the whole unpopularopinion stuff is stale and a bit unnecessary. Some opinions are unpopular for a reason and don’t really deserve a podium.

That’s more like hatefulopinion than unpopular I feel like. Unpopular opinions are great to share because hey maybe they’re right and everyone else will learn something.

In the best case it’s an opinion that is rather popular, but not said enough, because it wasn’t verbalized, like shower thoughts, but I’m an antagonistic manner. Most of times it’s kicking against ‘common things to hate on’ like pineapple pizza.

But que often it’s getting a bit edgy as people explore the boundaries of what is really bad taste.

But suffice it to say that it’s not my cup of tea and people aren’t bad if they don’t agree with me.

Well reddit unpopularopinions is just popularopinions or some milquetoast critique of some piece of media, but lemmy most people aren’t trying to be edgy or get upvotes.

Sometimes it’s some nonsense but I’ve seen a couple good ones, ex: don’t “just let people enjoy things,” some pieces of media make people think less critically and is generally just bad for their brain, even if it’s a fun thing for them. That one is like yeah I almost didn’t want to read that because I don’t want to have that extra layer I have to think about now, but it’s important to keep in mind.
