Why? It’s in Canada’s interest to keep the straight open. Not to mention the repressive regime in Iran, and the nuclear risk. Of course it’s all in the context of the idiot Americans, but if we can help bring about peace, prosperity and human rights within that context, Canada should do what it can.

For it to be open you have to put pressure on the USA the aggressor in this war

Wars don’t often end that way. It would be nice, but sometimes we have to work with what we’ve got.

Yes we got the reality that iran will never cede it’s control of the straight because it is a matter of state survival and because the west imperialist ambitions failed and got punished from their foolishness .

The usa starting an economic war on Canada for no reason is the perfect valid reasons to stop aiding the usa in their stupid wars

Iran will eventually go back to the status quo before the U.S. attacked. It will take time but the U.S. will probably just wait it out after taking out a bunch or Iran’s capabilities and probably whacking their nuke facilities more. Both side can ‘win’ with going back to how it was before, so it’s just a matter of getting through the emotional stages to find the path.

They absolutely will not ever go back to the status quo. That is foolish. Iran learned that they already have the equivalent of an economic nuke and they will do everything they can to maintain their control over the Straight of Hormuz in perpetuity.

It will not return to the status quo. Iran will continue to control the straight and the west wil lhave to deal with it. The only way to destroy iranians capabilities is a decade long on the ground war and would still probably fail

Depends on the people running Iran dunnit? They could find some way to recover their relative peace and stable oil economy. They’d just have to agree to not attack boats in the straight and not (obviously) work on nuke development. It would be better for them obviously. But now their leader’s justifiably hatred for the U.S. make it unpalatable . But as things continue to get crappier there because of continued war and sanction, eventually they’ll move forward. Of course Trump will likely fuck it up again, but he probably only has two years left.

Sorry but the West Lost. The West will have to accept defeat and that Iran will get revenues from ship passing to the straight.

Nobody believe the lie about the nukes so I won’t waste my time with that BS

Between sanctions and between the state collapse, anybody would pick to endure sanctions

Well yes, that could be part of the peace deal - some income for Iran for straight access. I don’t think the U.S. cares about that as long as it’s not exorbitant and everyone has access. And yes the iran government will want to survive which is why they can’t take sanctions forever. I’m not sure what you think was a lie about nukes. Clearly Iran has been developing nuclear tech. The ‘two weeks away’ was probably bs. But in general there is evidence and a pretty clear motive for them to be making nukes.
