Governor Gavin Newsom used his veto pen over the weekend to ax legislation aimed at protecting providers of gender-affirming care from being extradited to face charges for doing so by another state.

Assembly Bill 2164 authored by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda) would have prohibited California’s governor from recognizing a request for extradition of a person related to their providing a legally protected healthcare activity in the Golden State to transgender individuals, or if they provide reproductive services. It provided certain exemptions, such as an extradition required by federal law.

    what do I have to be right about?

    Athletics. I thought it was clear as that is the only issue he’s expressed a strong opinion on. Outside of expressing support of the community.

    I think this is one of those issues the Trans community has not proven they are right about, and seeing how they react towards people that hold this opinion, while also showing they care about the community in other ways, feels self destructive. I think this has as much to do with the shift in polling as conservative rhetoric.
