    To be fair, with some exceptions (Sour Patch being a notable one), you’re biting into the ground-up joints of slaughtered animals reconstituted into the shape of a head.

      Of all the things I gave up when I became vegetarian, I was surprised that candy was the hardest

      Not only because I have to squint to read the ingredients, but now every time someone offers me candy I genuinely don’t know if I can eat it

        Yeah, gelatin is one of those weird ones I don’t think a lot of people think about before going vegetarian. Maybe that’s me projecting, but that and especially rennet were foods I excluded long after going vegetarian because I’d just never given them any thought. I eventually went vegan, and I think my relationship with those two ingredients helped bridge that gap for me.
