“Donald, if you’re watching, we’ll put your name on it. You get to be the American president who finally guaranteed health care for every single American.”

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senator-elect from Michigan who ran on a progressive platform with Medicare for All at its center, said Friday that he doesn’t care what the policy is called so long as it passes, even during Donald Trump’s lame duck term, which will begin in January.

Appearing on Zeteo with editor-in-chief Mehdi Hasan, El-Sayed was asked if he agreed with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who a night earlier pronounced that he wasn’t so sure that if Democratic majorities in the US House and Senate passed a Medicare for All Bill that Trump wouldn’t sign it.

“If he wants to pass Trumpcare-for-All, I’m ok with it. He seems to like to put his name on things,” said El-Sayed.

The best part of it is, it would still have a real name like “Obamacare” is officially “Affordable Care Act”.

Absolutely zero reason to ever use “trumpcare” once it passed

Do you think that he wouldn’t make ‘TrumpCare’ the legal, officially mandated name? With his portrait as the watermark on every ID card?

He should. Just to rub it in the face of every president, democrat and republican, who came before him and absolutely could not accomplish this vital and extremely pragmatic policy.

“This is the clown that did what you could not.”

I seem to recall that the term Obamacare was originally used by conservatives pejoratively, to make it less appealing to other conservatives.

Most of the responses to you really miss the point.

ACA was called Obamacare to prey on certain people’s dislike of Obama. So many people loved the ACA and didn’t realize they were on “Obamacare”

Even before Trump was elected, the joke was than anything Obama said would be disagreed with. That’s been a joke since maybe 2008. Before he was even in office.

The real point is that if you told Trump he could call it Trumpcare he would agree with whatever you wanted. That’s been a joke since Trump started being involved around 2016.
