Apple has refused to provide the calibration tool for the sleep sensor to independent repair people. A German repairman has beaten Apple and developed a calibration tool.

    Every laptop for the past few decades has an orientation sensor. It’s a standard part of the screen, since people generally want their laptops to sleep when you close them.

      I think that’s usually done with capacitive sensing.

        Or hall effect sensors (Lenovo laptops use this, I have set them off a few times with magnetic watch band clasps)
