What is with the shark plush? I like shark, but why so common?

The only question I would for that explination is why a shark plush?
Because it is affordable, available all around the world and has the colors of the trans flag on it (blue back, white bottom and pink mouth).
From another comment I made, it’s an affordable medium-large plush with a silly derpy face.
People began uploading photos of it doing “human” things so naturally I got one too. Kind of like cat videos. I guess
