Really makes you wonder why AI would ever end up doing that. Except maybe to pretend to have emotions, to more convincingly seem human (useful for interacting with the humans).
It’s true that emotions did likely evolve for that purpose. However, if you view them that way, they’re really just simple rules of thumb. They’re what animals had before they developed “proper” intelligence, and they just stuck around after. In our case, we’re talking about something which has “jumped ahead” to already having intelligent responses to stimuli. Adding in emotions on top of that is pointless.
And we spend a lot of energy on it, too.

Hmm, technically our emotions are just primal reactions that lead to behaviors that were more successful at surviving than those without.
I guess if it brings something positive to AIs they’ll definitely adopt emotions or something analogous
