Hi,
hope this is the right way to reach out for assistance in subscribing to lemmy.world.
I’m attempting to paste [email protected] in my search bar using mastodon. Online web and the following error appears “Searching posts by their content is not enabled on this Mastodon server.”
Been on Mastodon with this account for months, but would like to check out Lemmy, though I seem to be misunderstanding how to subscribe and access it as a user.
Try putting the full link like https://lemmy.world/c/COMMUNITYNAME in the mastodon search bar. From there you can follow the community just like a hashtag or mastodon profile
@antik
ok, so I put:
https://lemmy.world/c/technology
in the search bar, and that worked, was able to follow, but am only seeing posts and replies by that account, and not the posts and replies of lemmy users in that community, which is kinda the whole point i guess
I’m confused - that’s a community as indicated by /c/ - what account are you seeing?
@Limeey
I’ve searched for and followed a bunch of lemmy communities since posting earlier, and i am seeing posts to those communities pop up on my home feed as i expected to earlier, not sure if every post is getting through from every community though, also able to respond to lemmy posts, go to lemmy site and see them show up, thanks for the response
@antik
thanks for the reply. interesting. so I tried putting :
https://lemmy.world/c/!technology
into the mastodon search bar, no dice
then i tried:
lemmy.world/c/!technology
in the search bar
also no joy
Can you try this: @[email protected]
@antik
yep, that worked too, but had already followed by searching for :
lemmy.world/c/technology (which of course was your original suggestion)
though it’s only showing me posts by that account, and not the lemmy.world users in that community
You can click on “messages and reactions” instead of just “messages”. And then you will see more than just the posts. But it’s not the best experience.
You don’t need to add the exclamation mark afaik
