And your point is? Maybe I don’t like my food hot. Maybe I wanna talk with my hot date…

I eat at my own pace. As long as I’m not pitching a tent in the restaurant, what’s it matter?

Any waitperson knows not to start clearing a table while people are still eating. If it’s just you and your date then anyone with even a modicum of intuition can easily tell when the two of you are done with your meals and it’s time to clear up. Take as long as you like.

The only time someone’s plate gets taken while they’re still eating is on larger tables when the whole table is giving off “we’re done here” vibes, but one hapless nimrod is still planning to eat their parsley garnish but gets distracted by the engaging conversation. The waitperson dutifully starts clearing plates and then idiot-face starts eating again. Ease off on the wine, eat first, talk later.

There’s is a very easy solution here

Ask if the person at the table is done. It isn’t that hard. Just ask. If you can’t be bothered to ask then maybe ya need to find a different job.

I wasn’t meaning the literal you, I was speaking of the generic you.

Well, that actually makes sense. 👍
