There’s a certain cohort of high profile people, I can only think of men off the top of my head, but let me know if there are more, who used to identify as “liberal” (using that term to mean folks who would loosely lean left, say, on 70%+ of issues. It’s not a hard number).

Now, these same people are going hard right on oddly similar issues and all at the same time - Bill Maher, Cornell West, Elon Musk(?), Joe Rogan(?) - those types who are all simultaneously doubling down in the douchiest of ways that could have genuinely harmful effects to society.

And maybe it’s me, maybe I’ve just been out of the loop, maybe I’m just noticing it all of a sudden, but if someone could ELI5 I would really appreciate it because I’m kinda confused.

Is West going right on anything policy wise? Seems like he just hates Democrats, possibly for petty personal pride (he was kinda snubbed by Obama), possibly for grifting purposes. Even though he sucks, I don’t think he’s quite shown himself to be “I’m a liberal but” like the others.
