Rep. George Santos has easily survived a vote to expel him from the House as most Republicans opted to withhold punishment as both his criminal trial and a House Ethics Committee investigation proceed.

GOP leadership knows that Santos is a liability going into Election Day next week, and they’re trying to get him out before the Ethics Committee releases their official report in two weeks. The Democrats are probably inclined to allow that report to come out.
