I think, the thing here is that there’s plenty of calls to not blame israeli citizens for what’s happening. “its just the government”, “We don’t like this.” Israeils voted for this.

Just like how america voted for bush- and then 9/11 happened and suddenly we invade iraq for some strange reason.

Wasn’t 9/11 used to legitimize Afghanistan? I think Iraq was kinda unrelated. They legitimized it by saying they had WMDs they were not supposed to have as a dictatoship.

Yes, but I doubt if 9/11 happened there would have been less inclination to go to war over the WMDs. Bush used it to start a personal war- HW founded an off shore drilling company; and you can imagine his personal motivation.

(Incidentally, the guy who got it all started- Prescott Bush- made money off Nazi Germany. Union Banking Corp was ultimately seized by the US under the trading with the enemy act. Prescott was a founder.)

Hey, if you Americans want to judged by the standard of Joe Arpaio you can judge the majority of Isrealis by this shitheel.

It isn’t just this guy (and wasn’t just Arpaio,) though.

The government- of both countries- reflect its people; at least in part. It’s certainly fair to say that Israelis put Likud into power; and it’s also fair to say Americans put bush into power. (Though not necessarily. I don’t think we still really know wtf happened in Florida)

This guy was elected by whatever area he represents. They voted for that.

Voting matters, and collectively, we have a responsibility for what our elected leaders do.

We certainly do, but we’re not voting on a single issue and a lot of voters are extremely uninformed or misinformed. There are a number of absolutely fucking atrocious Isrealis, and a number of abhorrent Americans… but there are a lot more that voted for Bush for economic reasons or because they had some mistaken impression of him - I don’t know if you remember this but W actually had a great sense of humor and that appealed to some people.

Doesn’t really matter why one voted for [that guy]… they still voted for [thst guy], and collectively we put [that guy] into power; collectively, we’re responsible for putting [that guy who is an asshole] into power- saying one only voted so because [something irrelevant] is a large part of the problem.
