Seize the State? Is that sorta like removing a candidate from the ballot so people can’t actually make a choice?

Fascists intending to undermine the system they are attempting to use to grab power should not be eligible as a choice. Isn’t there a more fashy community where you can go spread your bullshit?

I shouldn’t need to say this, but I’m gonna say it anyway.

I have never voted for Trump, I will never vote for Trump, in fact, I believe voting is an immoral act, so I won’t ever vote for anyone.

That said every time I’ve ever seen ballot choice limited it has been in service to a despotic regime.

“Our great leader was just unanimously re-elected”

Of course, “Our Great Leader” was the only name on the ballot.

If red state had tried to strike President Biden from the ballot would you be so blasè about this absolute tragedy?

To save democracy we’re going to destroy it first.

As I don’t care enough to try and debate you since your mind seems made up, I just have some questions: why do you believe voting is immoral and what in your opinion is a moral way to choose a leader?

That sounds like engagement in good faith. Thank you.

I have no right to tell others how to live their lives. When I cast a ballot for a ballot measure, I am directly trying to tell others how they must live their lives. When I cast a ballot for an individual, I am indirectly trying to tell others how to live their lives.

I want no part of that.

So when a ballot initiative comes up that does nothing but legalizing something that’s still off the table for you?

Now that’s interesting, and not something I have contemplated. My initial response after having thought about it for all of the 60 seconds to rest your query, and start typing is “wasn’t it government that made it illegal in the first place?” But that doesn’t answer your question.

I’m going to have to think on that some more. Thank you for giving me such an interesting thing to ponder.

Glad to help. I may virulently disagree with the practicality of your position but I can respect the intent behind it as it comes from a moral position I also believe is valuable.

My state had two ballot initiatives this year. One I think is more iffy to your beliefs as it came with a lot of ifs and buts despite the fact that nothing it restricted wasn’t more restricted without it. But the other was a blanket legalization of abortion and stopping the government from banning it again. Even from the most anti government, washing your hands of all power perspective I struggle to see a consistent justification to not have voted on it if your beliefs actually come from a desire to allow people to make their own choices for their lives.

Thank you for engaging in good faith. Much appreciated. I find when people engage in good faith everyone might learn something even if in the end they still disagree.

You have absolutely given me something I must consider.

You speculate about Biden when we literally watched Trump try to steal an election in front of our faces.

And not sure how seriously you expect people to take you when you literally think democracy should be destroyed. You are definitely making the right moves to achieve that goal however.

I’m sorry, I think I missed something. Where did I say I wanted democracy to be destroyed?

I came into this conversation with the claim that those seeking to remove Trump from the ballot were the ones destroying democracy. I’ll stand by that claim.

Now if you want to talk about the fact that I don’t believe in democracy, that is fine. I’m happy to engage on that topic, but at no point did I make that claim. It is possible to not believe in a system of government, but still see that those claiming they do support that system of government are destroying it.

You cannot say “I believe in democracy!” And then in the same breath say “but we’re not going to give you the option to exercise that belief because it might be dangerous.”

Actually, we consider that a vote for Trump or conservatives in general! If you won’t vote for us, we actively try to make sure you don’t/can’t vote for anybody else. So, thank you for your support!

Good question. The people who filed the lawsuit to disqualify Trump from eligibility are a conservative think tank and their law firm. Right wingers being right wingers will result in tyranny from someone.

Leftists at least follow democracy and support different voices and opinions. If you’re upset at a lack of right wing representation, it helps to know who is causing you grief. Have to say, watching you guys eat yourselves is fucking awesome.

Y’all made your choice. Now you face the consequences. And honestly, far too few of them.
