Learning from history is about more than just lip service,” he added, in what appeared to be a reference to the Nazi dictatorship, which made race ideology, ostracism and the deportation of Jews, Roma and Sinti, gay people and many others the cornerstone of its politics. Scholz continued: “Democrats must stand together.”

      process to ban them.

      What do you mean?

Many Afd extremiss are arrested, like this one german official arrested and these ones

Am not sure if you can ban a democratic elected party (even if it was mostly on Provincial level). There should be rules against anti-democratic parties, but I don’t know how that works. IIRC, it only happens in extreme cases. This should be considered one of them. But, it’s up to the legislature to do that, not a politician.

so I don’t know what else they will need before they start the process…

Yeah exactly, maybe political will or guts?

That’s it, what they forget is, the price for not trying to ban them is the end of our democracy. I also don’t think that our BVG would decide that the AfD is still democratic. Thousands of statements that are against our constitution, planing mass deportations, mostly right extremists, multiple regional partys are flagged as right wing extremists. I think at this point it’s pretty sure it’s not about if, but about when they will get banned(as long as someone starts the process)
