When I’m driving with the phone is a dashboard mount, everything else on the phone is super slow and laggy. To the point where if something doesn’t work via voice control, I’m afraid to do it manually like when stopped at a red light, in case I can’t switch back to navigation before I need to make a turn. Google Maps on OnePlus 9 w sd888.

Is there in existence yet a phone that’s fast enough for task switching while navigating? Is it just Google maps being a resource hog? Is there a better app?

So, it’s navigating using every resource it has (screen, GPS, cellular, Bluetooth), probably plugged in, in the sun on your dash. It’s probably overheating and throttling. I’m from Florida and I ended up getting a vent mount so it can get blasted by the a/c while I’m doing that, have an 8t and that stopped the lag.

Yeah I think it probably is thermal throttling. I’ve added an app called powerline to help me keep an eye on it. Doesn’t have a CPU temp indicator but CPU utilization can serve as a proxy for it.

I do have the phone in a vent mount, but wifey always wants to turn the AC off after a minute.
