At a campaign rally Monday, Trump struggled to enunciate his view that drug dealers should get the death penalty. He initially failed to pronounce “smallest,” and then added, “We are an institute in a powerful death penalty. We will put this on.”
The comments echo some of Trump’s gaffes from late last year, including when he mixed up President Biden, former president Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on multiple occasions. (Trump insisted that he hadn’t really done so and that his comments were intentional.)
It’s easy to isolate a gaffe or two and read too much into it. The “death penalty” one could be Trump merely mangling what he’s reading on a teleprompter, for instance. But the fact that they’ve happened in quick succession as Trump emerges on a campaign trail he’s largely been able to avoid — he held few events in Iowa, in part due to weather and in part because his huge lead meant he didn’t need to — suggests there could be more to come.
“Mental sharpness”

Trump was never mentally sharp. Trump was never ‘sharper’ than his opponents. He’s always been a monumentally stupid fuck who embarrasses anyone with an ounce of sense who has to listen to him dribble shit out his mouth and down his chin in front of a mob of cheering fascist morons. He’s always been infamously incoherent, to the point where he flummoxed translators as president because they didn’t know how to translate his tiny puckered asshole lips into human speech in any language other than English.
And you know what?
His supporters don’t give a shit. They didn’t before. They don’t now. They won’t in the future.
Stop pretending fascism is based on positive evaluations of character, like “He’s sharp” or “He’s strong”. It’s based on ignorance, malice, and desperation. That’s it.
Remember the time he first met Angela Merkel (former German PM) and he asked her if they could make a trade deal? She told him “No, Germany can’t make direct trade deals, we can only trade through the EU”
But he didn’t understand what she said so he asked her again- ELEVEN TIMES.
My favorite though was the time he was bragging about his high score on an IQ test “It was a very hard test. There’s no way Joe Biden could have passed it.” And then we found out he didn’t take an IQ test, he was being tested for dementia. The questions he found to be very hard were “What year is it?” “What city are we in?” and then there was a picture of an elephant and he had to say what kind of animal it is.
But Washington Post is worried that Trump may be losing his trademark mental acuity, I guess.
More than that, but they setup the false equivalency that Biden is somehow “less sharp” despite being a highly competent albeit uninspiring orator, especially compared to a sack of dribbling piss that reeks of hamberders and excrement
