It’s trippy for such a technologically advanced country that they still do hangings

The Gundam Firing Squad is out for repairs, and they couldn’t find a pen to write his name in the Death Note.

They are very conservative and toxic in many things sadly. It doesn’t sit right with their international image. The country of contrasts I guess.

I don’t condone the death penalty.

      But…

…that fucker killed 36 people by setting a building on fire. Let’s suppose that a few of them didn’t die by smoke inhalation, but actually being burned alive. That fucker burned alive people. One of the most painful deaths one can experience.

I’d say hanging (and again I don’t condone it!!!) is getting out easy.

        But…

This is death penalty version of I’m not racist but

Considering how Japan’s justices system is as bad as the US there definitely shouldn’t be a death penalty in ANY circumstances

Which is part of my point.

            “Poor baby is getting hanged!”

Dude, that poor baby burned people alive. Don’t give him any sympathy.

I wouldn’t kill him because I believe killing someone is not right, not because it’s cruel.

No, not really. Because if they asked me directly “hey, should we kill this motherfucker?” I’ll say no. Even if I had supreme, absolute power. I’m the kind of guy who will catch scorpions in my house and release them in the wild.

I was just putting what the OP said into perspective: “how can ANYONE kill a poor person who burned alive innocent people in such a BARBARIC way that is by hanging?!”

According to the autopsies most people died due to burns rather than smoke

Let the fucker hang, and that’s the least we could do

Nope. I already said that what I’m disagreeing with is OP saying that death by hanging is oh so barbaric, when the perpetrator burned people alive. Those victims didn’t have the chance of dying by hanging.

It’s like saying that I don’t agree with physical punishment for misbehaving kids. Let’s suppose that a kid skins another kid alive, and the father spanks him as punishment. I’ll say “nah, that’s wrong. Take him to a psychiatric center instead.” And if someone says “so barbaric that the kid got spanked instead of getting his ears pulled, which is more common,” I’ll say “bruh, that kid skinned someone alive!”

Yea, you sympathize and thus justify the secondary action. In this case that would be the death penalty.

Whatever you say, buddy. My abhorrence towards the death penalty is not up for discussion here, and I’m getting bored already.

Just rest assured that if you’re ever on death row, and it’s in my power to get you out of it, I will do it unconditionally.

Furthering this discussion is of no use to me. Have a nice evening.

Im not sure its any worse than any method done today outside of inert gas asphyxiation, which ironically has gotten a lot of pushback. If death penalty is done they should allow a choice of options a state could reasonably accomodate with the most humane one they can figure out as the default.

I didn’t think they still had the death penalty even.
