hard enough

around the neck

with a firm grip

My question to that particular adult would be “what about the nature of hierarchies, ruling class dominion, defunding social safety nets including healthcare and education, and cutting corporate taxes do to improve life for you and your family?”

Well adults can still be stupid. But having a civilized debate with others is what should be expected of them. 5 year olds throw tantrums. See: the biggest, orangeist 5 year old of them all.

A lot of people have the survivorship bias: “I could do it on my own, and so should you!” But they are forgetting all the chances and support they got. It is in their interest to make it harder for others coming after them, because that makes their “acomplishments” greater. And since they can inherit their wealth to their children, they can be “benevolent”, because their children might not do it on their own.

“Zero sum” thinking: “If others have it worse, I can have it better.”

“If people make wrong choices, they should be punished for them.”

Thinking like this is leading people to conservative attitudes.

Also lowering the age that children are allowed to start working full time while increasing the retirement age. Cuz this is some bullshit and we should be doing a France about it
