I actually love it now that I’m used to it. It’s just a totally different driving mentality from anywhere else in the country, that’s all. Everyone pays attention, everyone’s assertive about getting where they’re going, everyone takes responsibility. If you want things to be friendly you will have a real bad time, but it’s actually one of the safest driving cities in the country. It’s just hard to get used to at first.
Related story, a friend of mine was turning onto a 4-lane undivided road in California, and he butted out into one lane of traffic and waited for the traffic in the other lane to clear so he could go. To him from Boston this was normal. Every single lane of traffic came to a complete stop because of this crazy guy sideways in the middle of the road. he thought it was pretty funny.
