From the University of Minnesota Raptor Center

Meet Bubo, a special great horned owl with a very interesting story. Bubo’s journey started in Edgerton, Minnesota, when a compassionate couple found him after he fell from his nest in a windstorm. They brought changed his life forever.

In May 2000, Bubo was brought to The Raptor Center and after a physical and behavioral assessment was determined to be not releasable. Even though he didn’t have any physical issues, the time spent with humans made him unable to go back to the wild because Bubo imprinted on the family, self-identifiying with humans, and did not learn the skills necessary of an owl to survive in the wild. So, he found a permanent home at The Raptor Center. Bubo fit into the role of educational ambassador very well during his training and has become an incredible ambassador teaching the public all about great horned owls.

If you’d like to meet Bubo for yourself, come enjoy a tour of The Raptor Center and see the amazing work we do to protect, rehabilitate, and release these majestic birds. Invite your friends and family for an educational and inspiring day with our feathered friends!
