The Great Grey seems to be unusually unpopular around here. I found this nice pic tonight.

I used to be not the biggest fan of Barn Owls, but my opinion has changed.

That Verreaux Eagle Owl has taken some getting used to as well.

They’re all really cool, but some are easier to appreciate.

You can definitely tell which owls are pushed for public consumption- GHOs, amd Greys for examples.

Personally, I’m fond of the the hawk owl that sets up on my mom’s raptor pole. Guy is getting fat off rabbits (the reason my mom put up a raptor pole… and cat nip.)

Hawk Owl has been especially popular lately on the one feed I get. I guess it isn’t normally found there, so everyone is flocking there to see it. Thankfully they don’t seem to be bothering it.

I got a funny pic of it to share this week.

they’re fun to watch! i put them in the same category as peregrine falcons on that score. They like to get up on tall, very springy perches too, so they’re pretty easy to spot if they’re around. (peregrines are psychotic little speed junkies, and probably part homing missile. interestingly, they’ve moved into Downtown Minneapolis and have been keeping the pigeon population down.)

I’m a big Peregrine fan too! I love their shape, and they always seem very relaxed. Would love to see one divebomb something!
