Holy Tomato, I have finally met another Long Drive Enjoyer.

The Long Drive is such a fun concept, I just wish it didnt have performance issues and the multiplayer actually worked. Also, it using Unity’s Wheel Collider is a bit of a problem because those components love to pull to one side when accelerating for some reason, and its pretty annoying.

Honestly when I first saw Pacific Drive, the first thing I though to myself was “This looks like a higher budget rip-off of The Long Drive.” Seems like that was mostly correct except for some reason PD has a time limit, which is kind of a bad move for this genre IMO.

You’re in luck! The Long Drive dev has been rewriting the game to try and increase performance and cut down on spaghetti code to make it easier to add more stuff. That’s why there’s been a long break in the game’s development.

Yeah I know, I own the game and got to see his goofy video updates on it. I was simply voicing my dismay at the state of the game when it launched. Not that it isn’t being worked on, but its still a valid criticism.

As far as I can tell they are just different games in different genres.

PD is structured differently, you do short missions where you collect resources and explore in new areas while avoiding hazards, then return to a hub to do management. It’s often said to be a survival game which is pretty accurate.
