I’m done, I’ve been banned for expressing a different opinion (without insulting or personally attacking anyone), I’ve been accused of evading a ban with multiple accounts (this is my only account I’ve ever had on any lemmy instance), I’ve had people selectively ignore my comments and accuse me of things which I never said, and I’ve had people ignore valid criticisms and keep attacking me.

Reddit has many issues with trolls, one-sided discussion, and just general bullshit, but many Lemmy instances are way worse. The newfound freedom of Lemmy has attracted many extremists, from both sides, and many of them are moderators, who are more than happy to remove any contrarian opinions. This results in discussions being echo chambers

Oh for ffs. I’m not the one running defense for Hamas and the Houthis or Israel. YOU ARE. If you love them so much, you best be ready to defend all the human rights atrocities happening in Yemen right now. You guys have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve lived in the region.

You know how that gets solved? By not bombing Yemen and Gaza into oblivion.

The reason those governments were able to rise to power is because of American imperialism overthrowing governments that didn’t do these things.

Unless you think that bombing all the gays in Gaza out of existence is going to solve the problem, I don’t see why you think it would be wrong what the Houthi’s are doing to stop israel’s Genocide.

Stopping the bombing in Gaza will not make Hamas reverse course overnight. In fact, there was no bombing happening before October 7 when Hamas crossed over and butchered 1200 people. I’m glad the West has suddenly woken up to what is happening in this region yesterday because of what’s going on now with the IDF going full on genocide in the Gaza strip, but this conflict is far deeper and started long before Oct 7. Picking one of the parties (regardless if it’s the Houthis, Hamas , or Israeli Defense Forces) and ignoring everything that happened preceding Oct 7 is extremely naive. We need a ceasefire now, and we need the Palestinians to come to the table without Hamas (or the PLO) and we need Netanyahu’s ethnic centic cabinet replaced. All this talking in circles about who is right or wrong is not going to lead to any actionable plan. Legitimizing the Houthis won’t bring about any meaningful progress to this region.

Do you know the Houthi’s will lift their blockade the second that a ceasefire is reached? That is literally their condition for the blockade. The Houthi’s have already proven to stop their attacks during the temporary ceasefire we had before. And after ceasefire ended they continued.

In fact, there was no bombing happening before October 7

This not true either. Israel had actually been increasing their bombing of Gaza each year. Not to mention israel’s blockade of food and clean water for Gaza.

Hamas actually tried a peaceful demonstration in 2018 and israeli snipers were having competitions on how many people’s kneecaps they could snipe. And they killed many people then too.

Consider watching this video from far before 7 Oct for some more background on the conflict from the Palestinian side.

Oh man, and before October 7 Hamas and the Houthis were just the most nicest people ever. How dare anyone retaliate against their suicide bombings and incessant Rocket launches. And the Houthis, oh man! Just the best people

Israel multiple times brought peace deals to the table and each time the Palestinians walked away. It doesn’t matter if we dig up the whole historical record: It won’t change the disgusting behavior of Hamas or Israel.

But anyone running defence for Hamas is really out of touch with the last six decades of conflict in the region. You can reduce it to “Israel was doing a genocide” but that’s a meaningless statement spoken un a vacuum and anyone whose actually lived there or familiar with the history of the region will just look at you with a puzzled look.

This is also a complete falsification of history. Conveniently ignoring the Likud party assassinating Rabin too when the Palestinians were about to accept a deal.

And it is still not relevant as stealing 90% of the land doesn’t make you a good guy when you give 10% back. Furthermore there is no justification for entrapping two million people in a concentration camp for 20 years.

For a better understanding consider this video

You’re kinda missing the point and seeing the trees for the forest. I don’t know how to discuss this with you any longer. If all IDF bombing stopped tomorrow, Hamas will still continue its relentless attacks until it achieves its goals. Nothing will change. Pretending Hamas is some noble liberation army is incredibly misguided. They will not stop until all of Israel has been exterminated. Both sides in this conflict are relentless and to say otherwise is to be incredibly ignorant. Also, you gotta stop with the YouTube links. YouTube is not a primary source for any type of political discussion.
