Last weeks thread - 16 Comments

Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.

Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.

Last weeks episode ended on quite a cliffhanger, with Laios holding his sisters skull. We now find out how that turns out, with Marcille revealing what she’s really an expert in.

Forbidden magic. The dark arts.

Using an illegal spell, she brings back Falin from nothing but bones, using the flesh of the dragon to fuel the spell.

And so, this arc concludes. With the gang, now joined by Falin, cooking up some goddamn dragon!!

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.

    /c/anime mod here!

I had been internally debating with myself for a while about how to handle discussion threads for shows like this. Initially, I had decided to allow threads in the anime community as well as this one, similar to what would happen somewhere like reddit. I even link both of them in the Winter Discussion Thread Guide. However, the community coalesced around threads in this community and it has been great to see a well-moderated, active community grow on the fediverse. I am glad that you were able to find your way here.

Going forward, if there are other communities like this one, that are actively moderated and series-specific, and they want to take ownership of the discussion threads, then I will be open to having a similar arrangement.

I would not have minded things going either way, but my goal with setting up the community was to post far more content related to the show than would have been suitable for the general anime community.

In hopes of enhancing the watching experience with lore and additional media, spreading and appreciating fanart, etc. Maybe even pulling in some people who would not have otherwise picked up the show

Nothing would have prevented the show’s community existing alongside keeping the discussion threads in the general community, but putting everything in one place has worked out well, and I think it has contributed to more fans gathering in one place to follow the show.

I don’t like visiting reddit’s anime communities too much, the people here I find are so much better to discuss stuff with so thanks for helping bring people together in these communities :D
